The annual report from Information and Access to Privacy Services for the 2017-18 fiscal year was released today, Sept. 27.
The report provides statistics about government responses to applications made under the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and outlines work being done to support compliance by government.
More than 2,200 applications were submitted during 2017-18 and more than 82 per cent were responded to within 30 days. There were fewer requests for review of public body decisions made to the review officer compared to the previous year.
“Access to information is fundamental to good democracy and allows citizens to be informed participants in dialogue about public policy,” said Internal Services Minister Patricia Arab. “Staff have continued to work hard to ensure that requests for access to information are responded to in a timely and efficient manner.”
