Follow The Directions

I mean, how hard can it be? Chicken noodle soup in the slow cooker. Sounds easy, eh? I thought so too. Apparently I was wrong.

Apparently I can’t even follow a recipe.

In an effort to be healthier and eat more veggies, I thought it would be nice to make the family a lovely homemade chicken noodle soup. So I took the time this afternoon to cut the veggies, cook the chicken and assemble the remaining ingredients in the slow cooker.

But I made one HUGE mistake. I didn’t follow the recipe. The recipe suggested that I wait until the last half an hour of cooking to add the egg noodles.

I thought I knew better.

I was thinking that tomorrow I wouldn’t have time to add the noodles at the end since I’m going to a conference for the day. So I thought I was smarter than the recipe creator and who really cares when you add the noodles?

Apparently, the soup cares when you add the noodles. This is what happens when you add the noodles earlier than you should.

STEW. Or stoup. Maybe even gruel!

Another food fiasco for the books. Is it soup or stew? I guess it’s souper/super stew. I have no luck in the kitchen. Except for wine, wine always works for me in the kitchen. Where’s my glass?

Who’s coming for supper tomorrow?
