for moms of boys: speaking their language

for moms of boys: speaking their language

I’ve been outnumbered by boys in my household for almost 5 years. With that, I’ve come to accept that my life is just going to loud, messy and plenty chaotic for about 15 more years…but like all moms of boys, I crave peace and quiet to no end. This leads me to saying (over and over again)  “settle down”, “sloooooooow DOWN!” and “relax!”. And it hardly ever works. Because I’m realizing, that’s not how they work.

Speaking the language of “boy” is definitely something learned and most days I still sit on the couch and think, “did that just happen? do all boys do these things??” Raising boys has been the hardest, most self-changing, rewarding thing I have ever done but there are plenty of times when I worry I’m not doing it right. Am I not allowing my sons to be 100% completely themselves with all my “shhhsh’s” and “sloooow downs!” getting in the way?

I wanted to share this website with you called the MOB Society. It’s a website specifically for moms of boys which is great, because things are just a wee bit different for us, right? As the saying goes, “there’s special place in heaven for moms of boys”.
