Halifax Regional Police Quick Response Unit, while working in the Fairview area of Halifax observed four males acting in a suspicious matter around a residence on Titus Street.
The plain clothes police officer's approached the males who they identified as being known to police from previous criminal activities. One of the males was attempting to conceal a firearm from the officer's. He was arrested on site, a subsequent search found another gun and a can of sensory irritant hidden in his clothing. Three other males were arrested on site one had a quantity of illegal drugs. No one was injuries in the incident. Two 17 year old male youth and two 18 year old male adults from Halifax, face numerous weapon related charges. One of the adult males will also face illegal drug charges. They are being held to appear in Halifax Provincial Court and Youth Court on July 15th.
The Quick Response Unit is an important part of the Halifax Regional Police crime reduction strategy, with a separate unit for each of our three divisions. The members in these Units usually work in a plain clothes capacity and address crime and quality-of-life issues.
