Four youth arrested after stolen car stopped in Digby, Digby County, N.S.

Digby RCMP have arrested four youth after they were caught traveling in a stolen vehicle along highway 101. On Tuesday, December 2nd at approximately 10:30 p.m., a 2013 Hyundai Elantra was observed by the Annapolis RCMP traveling west bound at a speed of 130 km/h on the highway.

On Tuesday, December 2nd at approximately 10:30 p.m., a 2013 Hyundai Elantra was observed by the Annapolis RCMP traveling west bound at a speed of 130 km/h on the highway.

The officer attempted to stop the vehicle for speeding, however the driver refused to stop. The vehicle was identified as being stolen from the Truro area earlier in the day.

Officers from the Digby RCMP attempted to stop the vehicle and activated their emergency equipment; however it continued to travel at a high rate of speed. Officers from Digby continued to follow the vehicle and with the assistance of Meteghan RCMP, deployed a spike belt on a secondary road heading into the community of Meteghan. No one was injured during this incident.

The driver of the vehicle, a 15-year-old female, was arrested and faces five charges including Theft of Motor Vehicle, Possession of Stolen Property, Hit and Run x 2 with police vehicles. One police vehicle sustained moderate damage and the other vehicle sustained minor damage. The three occupants, two 16-year-olds and one 14 year-old were also taken into custody and face numerous charges including Possession of Stolen Property. They appeared in Annapolis Youth Court today.
