Frank and Oak, Arbys Closing, Liquormen’s Whisky

This will likely, the last weekly update of 2015, but I will have a year in review publishing New Years Eve at noon, and regular weekly updates return Jan 2 (unless something significant happens)

The Frank and Oak on Barrington is closing on Dec 24th. It was only ever planned to be a one-year popup. Goods are at 50% off.

Bens already closed their Quinpool outlet this year, and now they are moving their Fairview locations to Kearney Lake Dr @ Wedgewood

A second Mama Gratti’s (Scotia Sq) is on its way. One is going in Founders Square on Hollis.

A Tony’s Pizza window has opened inside The Dome.

Sushi Jet closed in Metro Park and moved in with In Spring on Spring Garden, now In Spring has moved to Metro Park and is now a buffet and the Spring Garden spot has been rebranded as Sushi Jet.

Arby’s Bedford closes on Christmas Eve; there were rumours that it was staying, but it is confirmed the 24th is the end.

Sold last week but the Days Inn in Highfield is already closed. The building will be re-purposed for other uses.

Backoos Korean Takeout is now open on the corner of Birmingham and Clyde.

The Brick inside the Atrium in Highfield Park has closed, and a store is now open in Bayers Lake where Sears home was.

Nauss Bike Shop on Agricola closed yesterday.

The Trailer Park Boys, LIquormen’s Ol Dirty Whisky is now available on NSLC Shelves, so far it’s only available at Port of Wines, Bayers Lake and Portland St

in the past week or so Steele Auto Group has acquired Colonial Honda, Metro Mitsubishi and Halifax Mitsubishi That means the only new car dealers left in Halifax that aren’t owned by Steele or O’regan’s are: Fairley and Stevens Ford MacPhee Ford City Mazda Dartmouth Dodge Atlantic Acura and Portland St Honda.


This week the feature croissant of the week is the Saint Nick, essentially it is  Christmas dinner in a croissant. It’s one of my favourite things.

 

Espirit is reentering the Canadian market in 2016 though no store locations or how many has been revealed yet.

Free People are going to be expanding in Canada and looking for opportunities in “many Canadian Urban centres” so maybe ten years for Halifax

(Ontario) Well starting this week in Ontario you can buy beer with your groceries, there are 60 stores so far that have been approved, but so far it’s only the big chains and only minimal stores per community.
