Monday, June 1, 2015 (Halifax, NS) – It’s never too early to start planning your summertime activities! The Halifax Regional Municipality is pleased to once again offer free swimming lessons at all its municipal beaches and the Halifax Common outdoor pool this summer.
Many locations will also offer free Bronze Medallion, Bronze Cross and junior lifeguard programs for those interested in advanced swimming and lifeguarding.
Registration is required to take part in any of the classes. Registration for the first two sessions opens at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 10, and will continue until the classes are filled. Registration for the next two sessions will open on July 8.
Lifeguard supervision at all municipal beaches, outdoor and spray pools will begin for the 2015 season on June 30.
Residents can register by calling 902-490-6666. Residents can also visit any municipally operated community recreation centre in the Halifax region or go online at the Community & Recreation Services “Rec Connect” page.
