Fun opportunity for your young artist from AGNS and Halifax Film

I just love it when I find out about these awesome opportunities for young kids and get to share them with you all!

Halifax Film and the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia (AGNS) are working together to launch a new art-based animated television show for children. And as part of this, AGNS will be holding special art activity classes from August 18-27 for children aged 4-7. These classes will be taped by Halifax Film for use on the program's website, and for possible broadcast on CBC television. Classes are $10 per child; there are limited subsidized places available. To register, call AGNS on 424-5280. Details on time/dates/themes are at the end of this post.

They fully expect the kids to act silly at first in front of the cameras, but hope that they will settle into the fun art activity. (I'd love to be a fly on the wall, heh.) I'm signing Alex up for one (at least)!

About the new show:
Young viewers can follow the voyages of Captain Leo, Princess Cleo, First Mate Fresco del Gecko, and Chief Bottle Washer Skelly the Skeleton as they escape the clutches of evil Queen Conformia and her henchman, Admiral Krank. Along the way, they discover wonderful and exciting art forms. When they run into trouble trying to escape Conformia and Krank they apply the knowledge they’ve gained about this art to help them fashion inventive escapes!

As well as introducing children to the world of art, each program's subject matter will lend itself to fun follow-up activities for its viewers.
