Gas station robbed, suspect flees in cab

At 2:51 a.m. on August 12, 2020, officers responded to a report of a robbery at the Irving Service Station located at 5450 Inglis Street, Halifax. A lone male suspect entered the Service Station and produced a knife to the lone male employee stating “he didn’t want to hurt him he just wants the money”. The suspect went behind the counter and took money from the till and cigarettes from a drawer. The male employee was not injured. The suspect left the Service Station and was last seen in the parking lot.

Police determined the suspect got into a taxi after the robbery and was dropped off at Cornwallis Street and Gottingen Street.   

The suspect is described as a white male, 30-40 yrs old, 5’5” to 5’6”in height, stocky build, approximately 200lbs. He was wearing a black under armour hoodie with the hood pulled up over his head, a black mask, grayish/black pants and black shoes. The suspect was carrying a green backpack.

Multiple police units attended the scene and are actively looking for the suspect at this time. The investigation will be assigned to the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division.
