Government has reached a tentative agreement with teachers.

“This is good news for public education,” said Karen Casey, Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development. “We have worked hard to reach an agreement that is good for teachers and students.”

The last agreement with teachers expired on July 31, 2015.

Details of the tentative agreement will not be released until the agreement is ratified by union members.

There are about 9,000 public school teachers in Nova Scotia. The Nova Scotia Teachers Union represents more than 10,000 public school teachers, community college faculty and professional support staff in Nova Scotia, and teachers who work for the Atlantic Provinces Special Education Authority in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island.
