At 2:26 p.m. Halifax District RCMP, with the assistance of fire department and EHS personnel, responded to a two vehicle collision, near exit 18 on highway 107.
The collision, between a Dodge Caravan and Volkswagen Jetta, occurred in the westbound lane approximately 500 metres east of exit 18.
As a result of the collision a female in the Volkswagen Jetta was pronounced dead at the scene.
There were four occupants in the van, two adults and two children. All have been taken to hospital with serious injuries, the children to the IWK and the adults to the QEII.
The investigation of the collision is continuing and a RCMP accident reconstructionist has been called to the scene to assist in determining the cause and circumstances of the accident.
Highway 107 near exit 18 will be closed in both directions until further notice.
