Halifax District RCMP is reminding motorists to lock their vehicles.
Over the past two weeks, the Cole Harbour RCMP detachment has responded to more than 30 complaints of entry to unlocked vehicles. Most incidents have occurred overnight or in the early morning and have resulted in the theft of money, personal identification and other valuables.
“Locking up is an easy way to make your vehicle less attractive to thieves,” says Cpl. Dal Hutchinson, Halifax District RCMP. ”It’s also important to remove valuables from your vehicle.”
The public is asked to immediately report any suspicious activity or motor vehicle theft to police.
Anyone with information about these incidents, and who is responsible, is asked to call Halifax District RCMP at 902-490-5020 or Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS. The public can also get in touch with Crime Stoppers by texting TIP202 and a message to CRIMES (274637) or by Secure Web Tips atwww.crimestoppers.ns.ca.
