.Shortly after 7 p.m. police were called to the scene of a single vehicle motor vehicle collision that occurred between exits 18 and 19 on highway 107. The vehicle was travelling westbound and suddenly ran off the road into a ditch. A 24-year-old female, from East Jeddore, was driving with two young male children, aged 13 and 9, in the vehicle with her. The female driver was pronounced dead at the scene. The two children were taken by ambulance to the IWK with undetermined, but non life threatening, injuries.
Highway 107 between exits 18 and 19 in Lake Echo is currently shut down for an extensive period of time. Traffic is being re-routed to Hwy 7 at both exits until further notice.
An RCMP collision reconstructionsist is attending the scene.
The cause and circumstances of the fatal collision are still under investigation.
