Halifax District RCMP is investigating a fatal collision.
Just after 9 p.m. last evening RCMP responded to a two vehicle collision on the Timberlea Village Parkway near exit 3 of Highway 103. The collision involved a 2005 Chevrolet Malibu and a Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency engine. The lone occupant of the Malibu, a 19-year-old female from Timberlea, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Initial investigation determined the fire engine was responding to a motor vehicle collision with it’s emergency equipment activated when the collision occurred. The road conditions were described as being slippery at the time of the collision.
An RCMP Collision Analyst attended the scene and the road was closed for several hours. It has since been reopened. The collision remains under investigation.
Our thoughts are with the victim’s family at this difficult time.
