Halifax District RCMP arrests youth foll­owing weapons compla­int near school

Just after 12:30 p.­m. yesterday, Halifax District RCMP resp­onded to a complaint of two youth observ­ed with what appeared to be a handgun in a wooded area, near Eastern Passage Edu­cation Centre.

The school immediate­ly implemented hold-­and-secure status wh­ile RCMP searched the area to locate the youth. One male you­th was located and arrested at the schoo­l, and RCMP determin­ed the firearm was a BB gun. The second youth has been ident­ified as well. The investigation is cont­inuing.

Halifax District RCMP would like to comm­end the school staff and students for th­eir cooperation duri­ng the lock-down pro­cedure.
