Halifax District RCMP investigate break, enter and theft, Tangier, N.S.

Halifax District RCMP is investigating a break, enter and theft on the property of the Tangier Mine located on Highway 7.

On Wednesday October 21, at approximately 12:30 p.m., Sheet Harbour RCMP were called to the Tangier Mine to investigate a break and enter into a number of buildings on the site.

These crimes occurred sometime between Friday, October 16 and Sunday, October 18.

A preliminary investigation determined that suspect(s) likely travelled to the property on All Terrain Vehicles(ATV’s) as several fresh ATV tracks were noted. A number of empty beer cans were found scattered about the property. The suspect(s) forced their way into the laboratory and workshop where they stole a small quantity of copper wire, a deister gravity concentrating table and three small electric motors. As well, two old school buses on site used as workshops, had several windows smashed out.

RCMP has seized physical evidence left behind by the suspect(s) and is continuing with the investigation.

Calls to Crime Stoppers are not taped or traced and if police make an arrest and lay charges based on a tip, callers could qualify for a cash reward of $50 – $2,000.
