Halifax District RCMP investigate flight from police, Cole Harbour, N.S.

RCMP Cole Harbour responded to a complaint of a large fight in a residential area of Cole Harbour. Upon arrival an older model Honda Civic fled the scene with no tail lights and which appeared to be dragging something behind it.

An RCMP member stopped the vehicle at an intersection and when she approached the vehicle on foot, the driver accelerated toward her and she was almost hit. The vehicle sped away and was pursued by several police vehicles from Forest Hills Parkway onto Cole Harbour Road. The pursuit continued until the driver crashed at the intersection of Portland Street and Gaston Road. The driver of the vehicle was arrested at the scene and was not injured in the crash.

The 20 year old male driver from Halifax is numerous charges including flight from police, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, assaulting a police officer with a weapon and driving while prohibited and is being held for court.
