Earlier today, Halifax District RCMP, Tantallon Fire Department and Emergency Health Services(EHS) were called to the scene of a two-vehicle crash on Highway 103 near the community of Ingramport.
Preliminary investigation revealed that at 6:10 a.m.
an eastbound pick-up truck collided with a westbound five- tonne transport truck between exists 5 and 6 along straight stretch of highway. The driver of the pickup truck, a 35-year-old man from Martins River, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the transport truck, a 44-year-old man from Eastern Passage, was not injured.
Earlier information released by the RCMP that there were passengers in the vehicles was incorrect.
Highway 103 was closed for 9 hours with traffic rerouted onto Highway 3. The cause of the crash remains under investigation. An RCMP Traffic Reconstruction Analyst is assisting with the investigation.
