Halifax District RCMP is investigating an incident of street racing.
On Saturday, June 27 at approximately 8:45 p.m., Halifax District RCMP were advised two vehicles were engaged in a street race on Buckingham Dr.
Haliburton Hills. The vehicles were described as a black Chevy Cobalt with a spoiler and a red Pontiac Sunfire. When police arrived at the scene both vehicles were gone.
Street Racing is dangerous and illegal, the risk to drivers and the public is extreme and the consequences can be devastating. If convicted, the minimum fine for a first offense is over $2400. As well, under the ‘stunting’ laws, drivers lose their licence for seven days and the car is impounded as soon as they are stopped by police.
