Halifax District RCMP is asking motorists to ensure their license plate is attached to their vehicle before venturing out due to recent thefts

Halifax District RCMP is asking motorists to ensure their license plate is attached to their vehicle before venturing out due to recent thefts of license plates in the Lower Sackville and Tantallon areas.

Over the past six weeks, RCMP have responded to 8 complaints of vehicle owners discovering their license plate had been stolen off their vehicle while parked in their driveway or public parking lot. If you discover your license plate is missing, you are asked to contact police at the non-emergency telephone number 902-490-5020 to report the theft.

RCMP continue to remind vehicle owners to lock their doors and remove valuables when your vehicle is unattended. This reminder is warranted after RCMP in the HRM have received close to 50 complaints of unlocked vehicles being entered and items stolen over the past six weeks.
