Halifax District RCMP welcomes a new Officer, Halifax District, N.S.

The Nova Scotia RCMP is welcoming Inspector Martin Marin to Halifax District RCMP. Insp. Marin is the new Operations Officer West and will be responsible for overseeing frontline police officers in Tantallon, Lower Sackville, Cole Harbour, and the RCMP at Halifax Stanfield International Airport.

Insp. Marin immigrated to Canada from Trinidad & Tobago in 1974 and joined the RCMP in June 1990, in Toronto, Ontario. Prior to attending basic training at Depot in Regina, Saskatchewan he attended French language training where he became bilingual.

After successfully graduating Depot, he was a general duty police officer, working on the frontline for 12 years in Minto, Campbellton, and Dalhousie, New Brunswick. After working in the Drug Section in Bathurst, NB, he was promoted to Corporal in the Proceeds of Crime Section and to Sergeant as a Career Advisor. In 2011 he was promoted to the rank of Inspector and became the Officer in Charge of RCMP Career Development & Resourcing in Nova Scotia.

Insp. Marin talks about his enthusiasm in accepting his new role, ‘I love being a police officer, as this is what I joined the RCMP to do. I am looking forward to joining the frontline officers on patrol and visiting the communities. Although relatively new to Nova Scotia, I am happy to call Halifax home, and look forward to contributing to safe homes and safe communities ! ‘
