Tuesday, June 2, 2015 (Halifax, NS) – Residents of all ages and skill levels are invited to participate in over 40 bicycling events being held across the region as part of Bike Week 2015, from June 5 – 14.
Bike Week is held each year to create opportunities for residents to try riding a bicycle, to celebrate cycling, and to promote safe cycling.
This year’s Bike Week theme, ‘Riding for a Healthier Halifax’, promotes the various benefits of cycling, including a more active lifestyle, alternative transportation options, reduced impact on the environment, and cycling as a recreational activity.
A range of events are being held that will appeal to cycling novices and more experienced riders, including workshops on safety and bicycle repair, bike rodeos, trail rides, and more.
Signature events of Bike Week 2015 include: MEC Bike to School Day, Southwest Sunday Cycle, Bicycle Expo, Mayor’s Ride and SWITCH: Open Streets.
Halifax Transit is pleased to support Bike Week once again by offering free harbour ferry rides for all cyclists travelling with a bike from June 5 to 14 inclusive.
