Riders from 1936 to be honoured by the Halifax Junior Bengal Lancers
The Halifax Junior Bengal Lancers (HJBL) will hold their annual Open House on Sunday, October 4th, 2015 from 1:00 – 4:00 pm at the Lancer’s location on 1690 Bell Road, Halifax.
The open house will feature the Musical Ride which models the world famous RCMP Musical Ride and features 16 horses and riders under the age of 18. Guests of honour at the ride will include two members of the original 1936 Musical Ride, Ralph Brenton and Mary Walker.
The Halifax Junior Bengal Lancers (HJBL) is a non-profit riding society located in what was once the Citadel Garrison Stables on Bell Road. Since its founding in 1936, the Halifax Junior Bengal Lancers has brought life and character to central Halifax through its stables and programs which include the Musical Ride as well as HALTR – The Halifax Area Leisure and Therapeutic Riding Association – which offers horseback riding to members of the community with special needs.
The mission of the HJBL is to encourage young people to learn and enjoy all kinds of sport connected with horses and riding; to provide instruction in horsepersonship and to instill in the riders the proper care of horses. Through its programs the Halifax Junior Bengal Lancers promotes the highest ideals of sportsmanship, citizenship and loyalty.
The Halifax Junior Bengal Lancer Open House will feature barn tours, pony rides for the kids and the popular musical ride.
