Halifax Man charged with Animal Cruelty

A 22 year old man from Halifax, has been charged with 2 counts of animal cruelty under the Animal Protection Act of NS.

The Nova Scotia SPCA has charged Presley Langille   with causing a dog to be in distress contrary to section 21 (1) of the Animal Protection Act of NS. Langille was also charged with causing distress to a cat contrary to section 21 (1) of the Animal Protection Act of NS.

In October, 2017, SPCA officers received a complaint that a deceased cat was located at Langille’s residence.  SPCA officers attended and it was determined that a cat had died at the residence.  In early November, 2017, The NS SPCA   received another complaint that a video involving Langille and his dog had been captured which brought SPCA officers to Langille’s residence again.

A full investigation had taken place and it was determined that charges were warranted under the Nova Scotia Animal Protection Act.

Langille is scheduled to appear in court on May 29, 2018 at the Halifax Provincial court house.

The NS SPCA operates on a policy of zero tolerance for animal cruelty and sets the standard of animal care for the province of Nova Scotia. The NS SPCA urges you to report acts of animal cruelty by contacting our confidential toll free hotline at: 1-888-703-7722
