A Halifax man who evaded police is facing numerous charges.
On October 18th, at approximately 7:30 p.m., Yarmouth and Digby Street Crime Enforcement Units (SCEU) and Digby RCMP initiated a vehicle stop on Hwy 101 near exit 25 in Digby.
The suspect vehicle continued on for some time before stopping on the side of the road. As members surrounded the vehicle, the driver fled the scene at a high rate of speed. When this occurred, four members received minor injuries; none of which required medical attention. A short pursuit ensued but was terminated in the interest of public safety.
Yesterday, October 21st, the driver of the vehicle turned himself into Digby RCMP. John Emerson Ward, 21, of Halifax is facing several charges including Assault with Weapon, Assault Police Officer, Criminal Flight and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle. He made a brief court appearance in Digby and will return to court in Comeauville on December 19th, 2013.
