Halifax Man Facing Charges After Grabbing Cop’s Gun

A 35 year old Halifax man is facing charges of assault, assault peace office and attempting to disarm a peace officer after an incident on Almon Street in Halifax just after 2:15 Monday afternoon.

From Halifax Police:

“A member on routine patrol came upon a verbal and physical dispute between a male and female on the sidewalk in the 5500 block of Almon Street. When the officer attempted to intervene, the male became violent by  pushing the officer onto the hood of a nearby vehicle and attempting to disarm the officer of his service pistol.

Two men who were walking in the area at the time came to the officer’s assistance. The male was eventually subdued and will appear in court tomorrow to answer to the above noted charges.

Neither the officer nor the female required medical attention as a result of this incident.”
