Halifax News Solid Waste Collection Cancelled and Facilities Closed Wednesday Due to Storm

Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016 (Halifax, NS) – Due to the winter storm expected to hit the Halifax region tonight, the Halifax Regional Municipality has decided to cancel curbside collection of garbage, organics, and recyclables on Wednesday, Jan. 13.

Please do not place materials curbside for collection tomorrow. Residents who normally have collection on Wednesday should instead place their waste at the curb before 7 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 16.

The municipality is also advising residents and commercial solid waste haulers that due to this bad weather, the following Solid Waste facilities will be closed this Wednesday:

Otter Lake waste processing & disposal facilities at 600 Otter Lake Dr. Materials recycling facility at 20 Horseshoe Lake Dr. Composting facilities at 80 Gloria McCluskey Ave. in Burnside and 61 Evergreen Place in Goodwood

In lieu of the closure Wednesday, these facilities will be open regular (weekday) operating hours on Saturday, Jan. 16.
