Halifax Pride Parade – Street Closures

The Halifax Regional Municipality is advising residents and motorists that several downtown Halifax streets will be temporarily closed to traffic and parking on Saturday, July 21, to accommodate the annual Halifax Pride Parade.

Beginning at noon, streets directly along the parade route will close to vehicular traffic. The parade will begin at the Halifax Dockyard on Upper Water Street at 1 p.m., proceed along Barrington Street, turning right onto Spring Garden Road, right onto South Park Street, continuing onto Bell Road, and finally turning into the Garrison Grounds along Ahern Avenue.

Please note there will be no parking anywhere along the parade route beginning late tonight (Friday), as special event ‘no parking’ signs and meter bags are installed along the route. All affected streets will reopen to both vehicles and on-street parking by 4 p.m. Saturday.

Several Halifax Transit bus routes will operate on detours during the Pride Parade. The Alderney ferry will operate on a 15 minute service schedule from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and again from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Visitwww.halifax.ca/transit/ServiceDisruptions.php for a complete list of affected routes and associated detours.

The Halifax Pride Parade is an annual tradition that draws thousands of people from across the region. For more information on the parade or other events featured in the 31st annual Halifax Pride Festival visitwww.halifaxpride.com.
