Halifax Regional Police and Fire Services Respond to Late Night Vehicle Fire

At 10:45 pm last night central division members assisted Halifax Regional Fire Services, who were responding to a vehicle fire, in the 2300 block of Maynard street.  Police were informed  that a male had been observed inside the vehicle moments before the fire started and had fled towards Gottingen Street.  The male was arrested moments later without incident near the scene and found to be in possession of stolen property taken from the vehicle.  A forensic Identification officer was also involved in the investigation. Members of the Integrated General Investigation Section will  further this investigation.  A 39 year old Halifax male remains in police custody facing the following charges:  Arson, Theft Under $5000. Possession Under $5000, 3 counts of Breach of Probation and  2 counts of Breach of a Recognizance.  He will appear in Halifax Provincial court later today.
