Halifax Regional Police is investigating an assault that occurred this afternoon in Dartmouth.
At approximately 2:20 p.m., a 35-year-old woman was running on a trail in Shubie Park when she was approached by a man not known to her. The man grabbed the woman by the neck and began to choke her. The victim was able to bite the suspect’s forearm, causing him to flee the area in the direction of Waverly Road along Lake Charles. The suspect is described as a heavy-set white man in his mid-thirties, 5’10, with thin calves wearing a blue t-shirt and black shorts.
At approximately 3 p.m., a man fitting the description was located nearby and taken into custody and is currently being interviewed.
