Halifax Regional Police Respond to a Call for Dog Trapped in Car

At about 1:10 pm Halifax Regional Police members responded to a Costco on Country View Drive in Dartmouth Crossing for a dog left in a vehicle. Officers located the vehicle and, observered that the animal was in distress. The officers managed to unlock the car and, removed the dog from its extremely hot interior. The driver, a 41 year old male from Newfoundland, returned to the vehicle some time later and was issued a Summary Offence Ticket under the Animal Protection Act. The ticket carries a fine of $693.95.

Halifax Regional Police responded to 173 Calls for service today. Several of those calls were for pets left in unoccupied vehicles.
