If you happened to be doing your Mother’s Day shopping at the Halifax Shopping Centre and you’re curious what all the commotion was all about I’m here to get you in the loop.

Last weekend I had the pleasure of judging the final round of the Fashion Candy competition at Halifax Shopping Centre, along with two other lovely ladies, Colette Robicheau of Organize Anything, and Sherri Kelsie Retail Manager of HSC. While the crowd enjoys some delicious candy and cupcakes behind us at The Judges table Collette, Sherri and I pose for a photo with Rachel (the most adorable MC) from 101.3 The Bounce.

Three finalists were given $100 and a half hour to accessorize there model, and then upon their arrical only 5 minutes to dress them. The models were dressed the same in a simple summer outfit (from The Gap) that needed a little somethin, somethin.

We were really impressed with what the girls came up with, and each girl took a different spin. It was a tough call, but we had to remember that our judging pants were on and we had to crown a winner. Below the girls are dressing their models in a mad dash with their hand picked accessories.

We loved all the looks from classic to trendy, and in our eyes they were all winners! Though only one lucky girl went home with the $500 dollar gift card for the Halifax Shopping Centre, the other gals were also able to keep their $100 worth of accessories they purchased for the competiton. Ultimately it came down to creativity and really paying attention to trends. We loved the tribal inspired necklace on model #3, her mirrored sunnies, and of course her laser cut out coral bag, as far as trends were concerned she nailed it!
