Hi folks,
So it appears a transit strike may be coming tomorrow, although as far as I’ve heard at this hour the negotiations are still going on. The Spryfield-Armdale-Herring Cove-Purcell’s Cove area has many, many transportation issues and a strike would undoubtedly make those worse.
Personally, I’ve been exploring carpooling but so far haven’t confirmed a match. I’m at the point where I’m considering walking to work. It’s about a 45 minute walk at a brisk pace, but I’m sure it would be good for me, and I know that sitting in traffic on the Herring Cove Road drives me batty on a normal day.
For those who need a ride, I’ve started a Twitter hashtag called #spryfieldride, and a couple of people are using it.
Check on the HRM Smart Trip website.
CBC.ca has started an interactive ridesharing map, and there are a couple of people on that in our area.
If you carpool, the Halifax Regional Police are warning people to be sensible about who you ride with. Safe travels, everyone.
