(Files from Halifax Water releases)

Halifax Water crews are responding to two emergency water main repairs in the Halifax Regional Municipality today (January 9, 2026). Here’s what you need to know:

Wyse Road, Dartmouth (near 157 Wyse Road)

Water service is temporarily shut down in this area with no estimated restoration time. Customers nearby may experience low water pressure. Traffic is reduced to one lane with traffic control personnel on-site, and the bike lane is closed. Expect delays and consider alternate routes.

Main Avenue, Halifax (near 299 Main Avenue)

Water service is also temporarily shut down here with no estimated restoration time. Stop-and-go traffic is in effect in the work zone, though sidewalks remain open. Expect delays and consider alternate routes.

Discoloured Water

Customers in both areas may notice discoloured water during or after repairs. If this happens, run the COLD water at one faucet until it runs clear. For more information, visit halifaxwater.ca/discoloured-water.

Safety Reminders

Speed fines double in work zones. Please maintain a safe distance from crews working in your area.
