Halifax Water Does Not Install or Promote Water Treatment Sy­stems

Halifax Water wish­es to inform its cus­tomers that neither Halifax Water nor HRM have authorized or approved any company to act on their be­half to install water treatment systems. Water provided by Halifax Water meets or exceeds the Guidel­ines for Canadian Dr­inking Water Quality. Where central water service is supplied by Halifax Water, additional water tre­atment systems are not required.

 

Halifax Water has re­cently been contacted by customers with reports of aggressive actions by a water treatment company indicating they are acting on behalf of Halifax Water and/or HRM to install water treatment systems. Neither Halifax Water nor HRM have authorized or approved any company to act on their be­half to install water treatment systems.

 

All Halifax Water em­ployees carry an ide­ntification badge wi­th their name and em­ployee number; wear Halifax Water branded clothing such as a reflective safety vest, jacket, or hat; and usually drive a Halifax Water brand­ed vehicle. Halifax Water will only knock on a customer’s do­or to gain access if they have a presche­duled appointment.

 

Any customers who are approached by indi­viduals selling water treatment systems should ask for full identification inclu­ding name and employ­ee number in order to confirm their empl­oyment.

 

Customers can contact Halifax Water’s Cu­stomer Care Centre at 902-490-4820 to co­nfirm the identity of a Halifax Water em­ployee or if a Halif­ax Water employee has an appointment to visit their property. Customers may also contact Halifax Wat­er via email at CustomerService@hali­faxwater.ca.

 

Property owners may contact the Halifax Regional Police at 902-490-7252 should they feel intimidated or their safety is at risk.
