Halifax Water PSA – Traffic Advisory – Barrington Street – Wastewater System Maintenance

Traffic Advisory – Barrington Street – Wastewater System Maintenance

(February 23, 2024) From February 26 to 27 (weather dependent), the following traffic changes will be in place near 2418 Barrington Street, Halifax, for wastewater system maintenance:

Traffic Impacts:

· On Monday, February 26 there will be an altered centre line with two-way traffic maintained from 6:00 PM to 2:00 AM. Sidewalks remain open.
· On Tuesday, February 27 there will be an altered centre line with two-way traffic maintained from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM. Sidewalks remain open.

This work will not impact Halifax Water services in the area.

Eastern Trenchless, on behalf of Halifax Water, will be undertaking wastewater system maintenance through cure-in-place-pipe (CIPP) trenchless lining technology in this area.

CIPP lining involves reinforcing the inside of ageing underground pipes with a fabric liner that is saturated with a resin and then cured using UV light or steam. This process is significantly less intrusive to traffic than traditional open-trench excavations for pipe replacement work that would otherwise need to be done.

Motorists should expect delays and use alternate routes. Motorists are also reminded that speed fines double in work zones.

We apologize for any inconvenience this necessary infrastructure repair work may cause.

To ensure the safety of our communities and our staff, please maintain a safe distance when Halifax Water staff or contractors are working in your area.
