Halifax Water PSA – Traffic Advisory – Bayers Road & Oxford Street – Wastewater System Maintenance

Traffic Advisory – Bayers Road & Oxford Street – Wastewater System Maintenance
(October 21, 2021) From 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM on October 22 and 23 (weather dependent), the following traffic changes will be in place at the intersection of Bayers Road and Oxford Street for wastewater system maintenance:
* Bayers Road will be reduced to a single lane in either direction. * No access from Bayers Road to Oxford Street toward Roslyn Road. Detour in place. Sidewalks within the work area will be closed. A pedestrian detour will be in place. Insituform, on behalf of Halifax Water, will be undertaking wastewater system maintenance through cure-in-place-pipe (CIPP) trenchless lining technology in this area. CIPP lining involves reinforcing the inside of ageing underground pipes with a fabric liner that is saturated with a resin and then cured using UV light or steam. This process is significantly less intrusive to traffic than traditional open-trench excavations for pipe replacement work that would otherwise need to be done. Motorists should expect delays and use alternate routes. Motorists are also reminded that speed fines double in work zones.
We apologize for any inconvenience this necessary infrastructure improvement work may cause.
For the safety of work crews and residents, please observe social/physical distancing requirements (2 metres of separation).
