Halifax Water PSA – Traffic Advisory – Cork Street – Wastewater System Maintenance

Traffic Advisory – Cork Street – Wastewater System Maintenance
(November 5, 2021) From 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM on November 12 & 13 (weather dependent), rolling sections of Cork Street will be open to local traffic only for wastewater system maintenance. Detours will be in place. Insituform, on behalf of Halifax Water, will be undertaking wastewater system maintenance through cure-in-place-pipe (CIPP) trenchless lining technology in this area. CIPP lining involves reinforcing the inside of ageing underground pipes with a fabric liner that is saturated with a resin and then cured using UV light or steam. This process is significantly less intrusive to traffic than traditional open-trench excavations for pipe replacement work that would otherwise need to be done. Motorists should expect delays and use alternate routes. Motorists are also reminded that speed fines double in work zones.
We apologize for any inconvenience this necessary infrastructure improvement work may cause.
For the safety of work crews and residents, please observe social/physical distancing requirements (2 metres of separation).
