Traffic Advisory – Irving Street – Wastewater System Maintenance
(June 4, 2024) From 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM on Monday, June 10, the following traffic impacts will be in place for wastewater system maintenance:
* There will be an inbound lane reduction near the intersection of Pleasant Street and Irving Street, Dartmouth. Sidewalks remain open. * There will be stop-and-go traffic on Irving Street between Pleasant Street and Franklyn Street, Dartmouth. This work will not impact Halifax Water services in the area. Eastern Trenchless, on behalf of Halifax Water, we will be undertaking wastewater system maintenance through cure-in-place-pipe (CIPP) trenchless lining technology in this area. CIPP lining involves reinforcing the inside of ageing underground pipes with a fabric liner that is saturated with a resin and then cured using UV light or steam. This process is significantly less intrusive to traffic than traditional open-trench excavations for pipe replacement work that would otherwise need to be done. Motorists should expect delays and use alternate routes. Motorists are also reminded that speed fines double in work zones.
We apologize for any inconvenience this necessary infrastructure improvement work may cause.
To ensure the safety of our communities and our staff, please maintain a safe distance when Halifax Water staff or contractors are working in your area.
