Water Service & Traffic Advisory – Fairbanks Street – Water Main Repair 
  
On February 19, 2025, Halifax Water crews were on-site undertaking an emergency water main repair near 41 Fairbanks Street, Dartmouth. Water service was temporarily shut down in this area. At the moment, there’s no estimate of service restoration time. 

Fairbanks Street, between Mott Street and Hare Lane, was open to local traffic only. Experienced traffic control personnel was on-site to manage traffic flows. Sidewalks remained open.

Customers in the area may have experienced discoloured water during or following this repair. It was recommended that those customers run the COLD water at one faucet until the water runs clear. Motorists were advised to expect delays and use alternate routes. They were also reminded that speed fines double in work zones.  

We apologize for any inconvenience this necessary infrastructure repair work may have caused.  

To ensure the safety of our communities and our staff, it was emphasized that people should maintain a safe distance when Halifax Water staff or contractors are working in the area.
