Water Service & Traffic Advisory – Spring Garden Road & Birmingham Street – Water Valve Repair
(October 22, 2021) Halifax Water crews are on-site working to replace a water valve at the intersection of Birmingham Street and Spring Garden Road, Halifax. Water service will continue to be shut down for most of the day. No estimate of service restoration. Customers in the area may experience discoloured water. Birmingham Street southbound is closed to traffic between Queen Street and Spring Garden Road. Customers who experience discoloured water should run the COLD water at one faucet for about 10 minutes. You should see the water clear. Do not use the hot water faucet since this will draw discoloured water into your hot water heater/tank, which could make the problem worse. If the water fails to clear after 10 minutes, wait for a few hours and again try running only the cold water.
