Halifax woman charged for providing false information, aiding suspects in Ahmad Maher Al Marrach homicide

HRP release:

Halifax Regional Police has charged a woman in relation to the homicide of a 16-year-old youth that occurred on April 22, 2024 outside the Halifax Shopping Centre.

Yesterday, investigators arrested a 44-year-old woman who provided false information to investigators and assisted the accused in avoiding arrest.

The woman is scheduled to appear in Halifax provincial court tomorrow to face one count of accessory to commit an indictable offence.

Two adults, a 31-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman, were previously charged with one count each of accessory to commit an indictable offence. 

Two 16-year-old youths and two 14-year-old youths were previously charged with one count each of second-degree murder.

The Youth Criminal Justice Act prevents any further identification information from being provided.

The investigation is ongoing. Investigators in the Special Investigation Section of the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division are asking anyone who has information in relation to the homicide to call police at 902-490-5020
