Autumn has such a distinct aroma that is incomparable to any other season. With crispness in the air, and leaves turning from green to the vibrant reds, oranges and yellows, the anticipation of your local brewery’s pumpkin ale, and warm, cozy scarves. What a feeling to behold!
With the changing of the seasons, comes the influx of craft markets. One of the city’s oldest, The Handcrafters Guild, has been a Dartmouth staple since 1974. Founded by a unique collective of craftspeople, the guild is a not-for-profit organization that has donated over $250,000 to 90 local well-deserving charities throughout Nova Scotia including shelters, schools, sports clubs, senior’s and children’s clubs, food banks and health organizations. Proceeds from the 2021 show will be donated to Spay Day HRM. (https://spaydaynovascotia.wpcomstaging.com/
The volunteer-driven market is back this year after being closed in 2020 due to the pandemic. The guild has welcomed some new faces to the board who are all committed to building a great show for vendors and customers. The board also welcomes back some 50 return vendors, some of which have been particpating for over 30 years, while adding 50 brand new ones to the show.
Visitors will come to the recently renovated Zatzman Sportsplex arena with an ambition to procure a unique, handmade gift before the Holiday season starts. The creative minds of local artisans gather to share their handmade wares hoping to inspire and delight. Jewelry, eco-friendly goods, ceramics, handmade fabrics, candles, art, clothing, pet swag, sweet treats, savory snacks and more are all on offer (for a full list follow the link https://handcraftersguild.ca/exhibitor-list-2021/).
