Handgun stolen from Dartmouth home

September 12 at approximately 9:20 p.m., Halifax Regional Police received a report of a stolen firearm (handgun) that was accidentally left in a locked case outside the owners residence in the 0-100 block of Leaman Drive, Dartmouth.

The caller reported returning home at 4:00 p.m., after cancelling a planned trip to a range. At 9:00 p.m., the caller discovered he had accidentally left one of his locked firearm cases containing a handgun outside near the street. The owner searched and could not locate the secure firearm box and immediately called police.

Police have confirmed the owner possesses a valid Firearm License and the stolen firearm is registered. The firearm is described as:

A silver Norinco 1911, 9mm handgun with brown grips and contains two magazines. The firearm was stored and locked inside a black hard plastic Husky case.
