Seduction aside, for the purpose of this post I would like to draw attention to Frank’s hat. Now people have their feelings towards hats, but what other accessory do you try on with your friends, and laugh? There’s something about trying on hats that brings out the comedian in all of us. It’s impossible not to smile a big dorky grin while trying on a big floppy hat; maybe it reminds us of the beaches of the Dominican, or the catamarans of Cuba. In any case hats are a fun, and what better way to protect yourself from the sun’s harmful rays (if you get any where you live that is; sun in Halifax seems optional).
The sun is beginning to shine her in the city, and with sunshine we need shade. With so many different styles of hats out there, there has to be one that suits your personal style. Riding the tail end of the royal wedding I feel like there are going to be a flood of stylish hats in stores this summer.
These are a few of my favorite hats:
I love the straw hat fedora, the straw allows for breathabilty for those hot summer days. However, be mindful that the brim on a fedora is rather short, so you’re going to want to slather on the SPF.
The wide brim beach hat, feels like you’re on a get-a-way vacay; this hat is both functional, and fashionable. It will protect your precious skin from the sun’s harmful rays, and it’s great if you are having a bad hair day. I like this one with the detailed beading; the brown adds a little boho feel to the hat.
***When sporting a hat, you want it to make a statement, so keep everything else minimal.
White t-shirt or tank with your best jeans, and some beaded bracelets with a brightly colored bag is all you need. This slouchy t-shirt featured below is great for a weekend look;
For a more sophisticated/mature look, opt for a tighter fitting shirt and tuck it in with a belt.
Coming to the end of this post, it’s dawned on me; I think this post might have been inspired by this photo taken in New York by the Sartorlialist. I love how simple everything is, but yet dramatic at the same time.
