Have you received your voter card from Elections Canada?

Federal General Election is on Monday, May 2, 2011.

Please contact your local Elections Canada Office before 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26, 2011, IF:

– you did not receive a voter information card
– you received someone else’s card, or
– the card had errors in your name or address

Advance voting days: Polls are open from noon to 8 p.m. You may register at your advance poll. Friday, April 22, Saturday April 23 and Monday April 25.

Election day: You may register at your polling station. Monday, May 2.

Other ways to vote: You may vote by mail or in person at your local Elections Canada office if you apply to do so by the registration deadline. Download the form from www.elections.ca or call your local office immediately.

TO VOTE IN THIS FEDERAL GENERAL ELECTION YOU MUST:

– be a Canadian citizen
– be at least 18 years old on election day
– prove your identity and address

Remember, to vote, you must prove your identity and address

You have three options:

– show one original piece of identification with your photo, name and address. It must be issued by a government agency. Example: driver’s licence, or
– show two original pieces of authorized identification. Both pieces must have your name and one must have your address. Example: health card and hydro bill, or
– Swear an oath and have an elector who knows you vouch for you. This person must have authorized identification and be from the same polling division as you. This person can only vouch for one person. Example: a neighbour, your roommate
