Health-care Labour Mediation Ends, Arbitration Begins

Mediator James Dorsey has informed government that not all issues have been resolved between health-care unions and employers.

As a result, Mr. Dorsey will now begin arbitration. Those hearings will be held Dec. 9 to 14.

The deadline for mediation was midnight, Monday, Nov. 17.

Arbitration will determine which union will represent each of the four health-care bargaining units in the new health authority structure.

Arbitration is final and binding. It must be concluded by Thursday, Jan. 1, unless extended by the Minister of Health and Wellness.
