Heat Hero Mini-Heater recalled due to fire hazard

This recall involves the Heat Hero Mini-Heater with the UPC code 8 6000085559387The 350W plug-in ceramic space heaters are black and measure about 10 inches (25 centimetres) tall and 5 inches (13 centimetres) wide.  They have at the top an LED digital screen that displays the temperature and four control buttons, a front grill, a red on/off button on the right side and a vent on the bottom.

The affected mini-heaters have a three prong plug on the back of the unit that cannot rotate. There is no brand mark on the unit. The control buttons of the unit are black with white writing. The Heat Hero logo and the UPC code are printed on the product packaging.

Hazard identified: The power switch in the product may overheat, posing a burn and fire hazard.

As of April 8, 2018, the company has received no reports of incidents or injuries in Canada. In the United States, the company has received 117 reports of the heater overheating, including 47 units smoking and 10 catching on fire, two resulting in property damage. No injuries have been reported.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled products and contact Heat Hero, LLC. for a replacement product.
