Heavy rainfall warning (Dec 11 4:30am report)

Rainfall combined with mild temperatures and significant snow melt will give risk of localized flooding this weekend.

Total rainfall: 25 to 45 mm.

Locations: Nova Scotia

Time span: this afternoon into Sunday.

Remarks: Another system is set to approach Nova Scotia today, bringing rain, wind, and mild temperatures. Given the recent snowfall, rainfall combined with rapid snow melt could cause localized flooding, especially in areas where snow banks block or inhibit storm drainage.

In addition strong southwest winds gusting to 80 km/h or higher are expected across much of the province tonight and into Sunday morning. Wind warnings may be required in subsequent updates.

Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.

Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.
