Heavy rainfall warning issued (Dec 6 2021 @ 5am)

Periods of rain, at times heavy beginning near noon and continuing into Tuesday morning.

Total rainfall: 30 to 50 mm likely with locally higher amounts.

Locations: Atlantic Coast of Nova Scotia from Halifax County east to Southern Cape Breton.

Time span: Near noon today to Tuesday Morning.

Remarks: A large low pressure system will give rain at times heavy along parts of the Atlantic Coast of Nova Scotia, including Cape Breton Island. This will begin near noon over western areas and will spread east to Cape Breton Island by this evening. The rain will end by Tuesday morning for mainland Nova Scotia and near noon for Cape Breton. There is some uncertainty on amounts and the areas to be affected at this time.

If visibility is reduced while driving, turn on your lights and maintain a safe following distance. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible. Heavy rainfall in combination with other weather factors, such as hail, wind and lightning will make outdoor activities unsafe.
